Business forum will look at how the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire area sells itself to the world

A forum to discuss the business opportunities and economic growth in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire is set to take place at Keele University this month.

The event, part of Insider's Economic Futures series, will feature key business and education leaders, plus senior public sector officials, who will give their views on key topics including the regeneration of the area, growing key sectors, developing tourism and improving marketing.

The forum will look at how the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire area sells itself to the world and how it can drive growth on the back of the world-class businesses based there, such as Bet365, JCB, Michelin and Molson Coors, as well as how it can make the most of its biggest assets such as tourist attraction Alton Towers and investment hotspot Ceramic Valley Enterprise Zone, plus key sectors such as logistics, advanced materials and the creative industries.

Speakers will include Prof Trevor McMillan OBE - vice-chancellor at Keele University, David Johnson - Michelin's head of public affairs for UK & Ireland, Matt Tebbett - Hydrock's regional director for the Midlands, Rachel Laverchief executive of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, Mo Chaudry - chairman of Waterworld Leisure Resort, and Carl Copestake - partner at Knights.

The event, taking place on June 19, will feature panel discussions and a networking lunch. Coverage will appear in the September edition of Insider magazine.

The program includes registration at 11.30am, panel discussions starting at midday, a networking lunch at 12.45pm, further discussions at 1.30pm and an approximate close at 2.30pm.
