Morrisons in Wednesbury has worked to provide a service to vulnerable people in its community, using the brand slogan of #FeedingTheNation.

The supermarket has continued to support the local food banks and soup kitchens in Wednesbury, as well as in nearby communities such as Darlaston and West Bromwich.

It has also opened its services to new shelters within the area and extended a hand to different religious support groups to provide them with support where needed.

Additional services by the supermarket have included the delivery of shopping to vulnerable customers and an hour slot where colleagues support customers who need a little extra help.

The supermarket also brought a bit of Easter joy to hospitals in the region by delivering pallets of Easter eggs to Birmingham Children's Hospital, Manor Hospital Walsall and St Giles Hospice.

Groups which have benefitted from the campaign include the Breaking Bread Food Bank, the Albion Foundation, the Wednesbury Coronavirus Support Group and Darlaston All Active.

Nicola Maycock, community champion at the supermarket, has led the team effort and offered her thanks to everyone who had taken part.

She said: "Thank you to all our customers and colleagues who have supported us with this and the success of this has been paramount to help us feed the local area through certain charities.

"This food bank within the store has helped us continue to exceed our #FeedingTheNation campaign.

"Thank you to all of you who have made this happen and thank you for your continued support as without you, we wouldn't have made this the success that it is today."
