More Carillion redundancies revealed taking total towards 2,300
More jobs have been lost following the collapse of Wolverhampton-based engineering giant Carillion, taking the total to almost 2,300.
The Official Receiver said that a further 35 redundancies were being made, while 39 Carillion employees were transferring to new employers.
A total of 11,489 jobs have been saved so far and 2,292 have been made redundant, with a further 1,102 leaving the business to find new work or through retirement.
Around 3,200 employees are retained to enable Carillion, which went into liquidation at the end of January, to deliver services to public and private sector customers until decisions are taken to transfer or cease contracts.
The Official Receiver said that those who are leaving the business this week will be provided with every support to find new work by Jobcentre Plus’s Rapid Response Service
Discussions continue with potential purchasers for Carillion’s remaining contracts and with staff, elected employee representatives and unions as these arrangements are confirmed.
