JC Payne poised for fresh growth
Aldridge-based commercial vehicle body builder JC Payne has announced a new three-year strategy on the back of significant investment and growth since the current owners stepped in, back in 2009.
In 2012 JC Payne in Westgate was turning over just under £5 million and by last year this had increased to £12.5m, equating to a 155% growth in turnover within just four years.
The company has also seen a substantial increase in its workforce from 15 in 2009 to 140 employees today.
JC Payne, which operates from a 90,000 sq ft factory with an additional 40,000 sq ft for vehicle storage and expansion, specialises in the manufacture of bodies for commercial vehicles of 3.5 tonnes and above.
The business has been built around a strong vision of delivering exceptional customer service and high quality products on-time and to specification.
Customers including vehicle manufacturers, dealers, rental and leasing companies through to individual operators.
Through working closely with their customers, it became apparent that there was a need for a quality mobile aftermarket service for tail-lifts and ancillary equipment, both in support of the bodies JCP build and as a standalone business. This lead to the launch of JC Payne Specialist Services, which provides planned maintenance and breakdown assistance in this area to the operators of commercial vehicles.
Neil Brandrick, who runs the company with his brother Garry, said: “Customer service and satisfaction is at the cornerstone of our business, delivering what we say we are going to, when we say we are going to. This ethos is evident throughout the company where integrity, effort, commitment and experience are recognised and rewarded. We are all proud of our products, proud of our people and proud of our customers – that is the JCP way.”
The company has now positioned itselfs to build on this success and the reputation they have earned within the industry, with the launch of their 2020 Vision. This sets out plans for the next three years and has been communicated to their key stakeholders, including employees, suppliers and customers.
Garry Brandrick, said: “We have invested heavily in the business over the last four years with the introduction of a new fibre glass facility and spray booth, the acquisition of our aftersales business, JC Payne Specialist Services, and last April, the acquisition of our 90,000 sq ft premises in Aldridge, which secures our base in the region to deliver our plans for future growth and workforce expansion.
"To support us in making these plans a reality we have created a new five-strong management board, incorporating some of our loyal and committed leaders that have contributed to our current success.”
Neil Brandrick added: “The last nine years have taken hard work and commitment from everyone in the business and we are, rightfully, proud of our achievements so far; but this is just the start of our journey and by announcing this restructure and sharing our 2020 vision, we are demonstrating our confidence and commitment to continue this growth and to contributing to the future success of manufacturing in this region.”
JC Payne builds more than 1,600 commercial vehicle bodies a year using a semi-flow line bodybuilding programme, designed and constantly updated to achieve the most efficient building process to meet their customers’ demands.
JC Payne Specialist Services offers a 24/7-365 day a year support network of mobile engineers which can undertake repairs, service or breakdown anywhere in the UK for tail-lifts, cranes, crash cushions and all other types of ancillary commercial vehicle equipment.
