Apollo 2000, which has with stores in Cannock and Wolverhampton, is celebrating after reaching its own gold standard.

The company, which is based in Birmingham, has just been successfully assessed to the 'gold level' by Investors in People.

Apollo 2000 is part of the Hughes Electrical Group, which employs nearly 700 people, and has been Investors in People since 1997, achieving 'silver level' in 2011.

"Achieving 'gold' is great news for everyone involved in Apollo 2000 as they have all played a major part in getting the business where it is today," said managing director Robert Hughes.

"This has already been a great year for thegroup as Hughes Electrical won the contract to supply over 3,000 kitchen appliances to the Olympic Village in London which have been installed and commissioned by our own skilled engineers, who will continue to offer support throughout the Olympic and Paralympic games.

"Now achieving the IIP 'Gold Level' is another major step forward for Apollo 2000 and other businesses in the group.

"Making the jump from silver to gold has seen us making sure that staff at all levels can make a real contribution to the business. This includes tailoring training to individual needs, including staff in the decision making process and having them give feedback on their managers' performance.

"But above all else we have ensured we keep the family values of the organisation; which is to remain profitable by inspiring customer loyalty through exemplary service.

"We see what we do as motivating staff to make them feel they are part of the organisation and they look forward to coming to work.

"Its success is shown by the very high levels of staff retention we have achieved over the years.

"Achieving the 'Gold Level' of IIP does not mean we can rest on our laurels, our challenge now is to constantly look to improve on what we do and be ready for our next assessment in three years time."
