Thirty jobs are being created in Wolverhampton with the opening of a camping superstore on one of the city's busiest routes, it has been revealed today.
The former Wickes DIY store, off Bilston Road, is being transformed into a Go Outdoors store.
More than 20,000 lines of camping gear, ski-wear, cycling equipment and fishing tackle will be going up for grabs when the store opens its doors on September 25. More than 50 tents will also be going on display in a 15,000 sq ft outdoor area, which will be decked out with synthetic turf.
Bosses have announced they will be opening the store as part of an £18million refinancing and expansion package.
Wayne Lewis, who is preparing to take over the store, said: "Wolverhampton will be an important store for Go Outdoors.
"We already enjoy a successful Midlands presence in Coventry but we are also aware of real enthusiasm for outdoor pursuits in the Wolverhampton area."
It has been announced just weeks after the city's biggest camping store closed its doors suddenly, leaving 10 workers out of a job.
Barretts of Feckenham, in St John's Retail Park, was the latest in the city to fall victim to the economic downturn.
