Finning UKConstruction giants Finning UK is preparing to create scores of brand new jobs with the expansion of its Cannock headquarters following re-organisation.

The company, based on the A5 Watling Street, near Bridgtown, has announced a major recruitment drive which could bring 60 extra jobs.

The company, part of Finning International, is one of the world's largest distributors of Caterpillar machinery and other earthmoving equipment and power systems.

It is due to launch a search for workers within the next few weeks.

Finning UK is one of the largest employers in Cannock and already employs more than 450 people at its Cannock plant with over 4,000 workers nationwide.

A spokesman for the company said the recruitment drive was aimed at finding workers for financial and IT positions at all levels from trainees to managers.

The jobs have been created after Finning announced in March that it was centralising its business support services for its CAT dealership and Hewden arms. This meant the company closing its administration offices in Tannochside, Glasgow, and it had said the move would create around 75 jobs in Cannock.

A recruitment day is in the process of being planned and will be held at the Ramada Hotel in Bridgtown on June 13.

The open day is by appointment only with Debra Worthington on 07831 376088.

A spokesman for Finning said: "These jobs are a knock-on from closing our site in Glasgow and we do expect some people to re-locate to Cannock but this is an exciting opportunity for people in the town."

In November last year Finning launched a £700,000 training academy aimed at training engineers of the future.
