Wolverhampton's historic Molineux Hotel moved closer to its former glory today as two landmark new clock faces were fitted.

The timepieces are a faithful replica of the originals which fell victim to the devastating fire which ravaged the building in June 2003.

The south-facing clock looks out over the ring road, while its north-facing counterpart overlooks Molineux Stadium.

They have been supplied by Shropshire-based JB Joyce & Co, believed to be the oldest clock-making firm in the world. After the fire, all that remained of the clock tower was a decorative ironwork coronet which has been incorporated into the new design.

Graiseley councillor John Reynolds said today: "The fact the clocks are back is a sure sign the restoration project is moving on at a pace."
