SJ Dixon & Son shops, which have been in the Black Country for 150 years, have been sold. The shops began as a wallpaper merchant in the mid-19th century. The business has been snapped up by J P McDougall, a subsidiary of ICI Paints. The company will continue to trade independently under its current name from its Wolverhampton base in Old Heath Road, which employs around 100 people, and will continue focusing on its central distribution operation for wall coverings and accessories. All staff are being kept on at the 22 stores throughout the Midlands and will be rebranded as Dulux Decorator Centres. They will continue to stock decorative products including non-ICI brands.
