Birmingham flyers get major boost with free wi-fi at 35,000ft

Aer Lingus has completed the rollout of free high-speed Starlink wi-fi across its narrowbody trans-Atlantic fleet, meaning passengers travelling from Birmingham Airport via Dublin can stay connected throughout their journey.

The airline operates connections from Birmingham to more than 10 North American destinations, including New York, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Nashville and Indianapolis.

Passengers can use the wi-fi to stream films and TV shows, work online or stay in touch with friends and family while flying at 35,000 feet.

Aer Lingus is also continuing to install Starlink on its remaining Airbus A330 widebody aircraft, with the rollout expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Travellers connecting through Dublin can also use US pre-clearance before their trans-Atlantic flight. This allows passengers to complete US immigration and customs checks in Dublin and arrive in America as domestic passengers.

For Birmingham travellers, Aer Lingus offers connections to North America via Dublin, providing an alternative to travelling through larger UK or European airports.
