A former Walsall Wood barman suffered fatal knife wounds as he slept in his Majorca apartment, the Foreign Office has confirmed today.
Daniel Hastelow, aged 26, was reportedly stabbed in the back and the neck while he was sleeping at the Playa Mar Apartments in Magaluf.
Relatives said today that he had been out celebrating his birthday with friends and believed he may have argued with a man in a bar.
He died in hospital on Saturday night.
According to one of Mr Hastelow's cousins, who did not want to be named, he had left the UK in August to start a new life in the resort and was working as a barman.
He had previously worked in the building industry.
His mother Sue Hastelow lives in Walsall Wood.
He also has two sisters, Clare and Helen, who live in Walsall Wood, and used to attend Shire Oak School.
The Foreign Office said two Merseyside men – Richard Henry Roberts, 35, and Anthony Griffths, 22 – were appearing before a judge today after being arrested on suspicion of murder as they were buying tickets at Palma Airport to get back to the UK.
