Date set for licence hearing concerning Oldbury pub after double-stabbing
A hearing has been set to determine the fate of an Oldbury pub after a double stabbing.
Sandwell Council’s licensing committee will meet on March 27 to review the licence for the Bulls Head in Birchfield Lane, Oldbury, after two men were stabbed at the bar and grill in the early hours of March 1.
The pub’s licence was suspended on March 5 and will remain so until the conclusion of next week’s hearing.
West Midlands Police had called for the licence review saying it had “significant concerns” about the pub following the incident.
The council’s licensing committee has the power to suspend or revoke the pub’s licence.
Five people were arrested after two men were stabbed at the pub in the early hours of March 1.
The two injured men, in their 20s and 30s, were taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of Class B drugs, and a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of Class A drugs.

Police also arrested two women aged 34 and 44, and a 34-year-old man on suspicion of violent disorder.
Perparim Emini became the licence holder in July 2020 and the designated premises supervisor has been Anastasija Selugina since April 2021.
The pub currently has permission to open until 12.30am during the week and 2.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Several messages of support were submitted to the council after the request by West Midlands Police to review the licence with regulars saying they did not want the pub to close over the stabbing.
One supporter said: “I have every faith that they can restore the pub and their own reputation, just as they did when taking over this premises in the beginning around five years ago.
“I wouldn’t have gone to this pub prior to their management and I have only ever lived in this area.
“The recent reports and ongoings have been caused by members of the public who are not regulars of this pub and it would be disappointing that after one situation completely out of anybody’s control, this would change the management of this establishment.
Another supporter added: “I understand that there has been occasional incidents on weekends but this should not be a representation of the pub as a whole, as the staff handle these situations professionally, taking care of the public as much as is possible.
“I hope that this pub does not get closed permanently and that this matter is resolved as there are many kind people in this community that do not deserve to miss out.”
The review application by West Midlands Police to Sandwell Council said: “On 1st March 2026, West Midlands Police were contacted by West Midlands Ambulance Service about a report of a person stabbed in the chest at the named premises.
“A further report was received of a second person stabbing victim nearby. Officers were deployed to the scene and found the second injured person. Officers have confirmed this person was also at the public house previously.
“As a result, of the incident, officers crimed two section 18 wounding within intent under the Offences against the Person Act 1861.”
