Five arrests, 19 vehicles seized and over 200 penalties issued during Eid traffic operation

Police have made five arrests, seized 19 vehicles and issued more than 230 traffic penalties during a traffic operation for Chaand Raat and Eid.

Officers from West Midlands Police's Roads Policing Unit carried out traffic operations last night (March 19) and on Wednesday (March 18) on Stratford Road, Ladypool Road, and Alum Rock Road in Birmingham, to disrupt antisocial behaviour and driving offences.

During the crackdown police say they made five arrests and seized 19 vehicles and issued a total of 236 penalties to drivers for a range of offences including illegally tinted windows, and one stolen vehicle was recovered.

Police received a positive response from the community during an operation targeting antisocial behaviour, reckless driving, and bad parking.

A similar police presence will be in place for Eid, with a zero-tolerance approach to dangerous driving in Birmingham.

Chief Inspector Andy Moseley, Commander for Chaand Raat, added: “As ever, our clear focus was to keep everyone as safe as possible, and we held a comprehensively planned operation.
