Father found guilty of murdering five-week-old baby daughter in Staffordshire

The father of five-week-old Darcy-Leigh Jefferson has been found guilty of her murder after she suffered catastrophic brain injuries at a property in Staffordshire.

Five-week-old Darcy-Leigh died from significant head injuries in hospital after being found not breathing at an address in Hudson Drive, Burntwood on March 27, 2022.  

The jury in the six week trial has heard evidence the baby also suffered 47 rib fractures and fractures to both legs along with bleeding to the back of her eyes.

Sean Jefferson, aged 35, of Lichfield Road, Rushall, Walsall, was found guilty in unanimous verdicts of murder, and guilty of causing her grievous bodily harm on Monday. 

The baby's mother Amy Clark, aged 34, was found guilty of the lesser charges of causing or allowing serious harm and causing or allowing serious harm her death.
