Radio DJ and TV host Greg James will cycle through the West Midlands during his epic Comic Relief bike challenge.

The BBC Radio 1 star has started his 630-mile charity cycle challenge for Comic Relief which has been titled as Radio 1’s Longest Ride for Red Nose Day.

The 1,000km challenge officially began today (Friday 13 March) on the stunning Jurassic Coast. Broadcasting live from Weymouth, Greg set off in high spirits as he tackled the first leg of this eight‑day journey.

Greg’s journey will be livestreamed on YouTube, and those who want to see whether Greg will be cycling near them or want to follow his route can track his progress via the journey tracker.

The journey tracker shows the Greg will be travelling through the West Midlands.

He will be travelling through the West Midlands on Sunday (15 March) and Monday (16 March). He'll start at the Mailbox in Birmingham on Monday.

He will pass through Worcester, Droitwich Spa, Bromsgrove, and then will start heading into Birmingham passing the likes of Bourneville and Edgbaston.

On Monday he will begin at the Mailbox and travel up past Gravelly Hill, Erdington, Four Oaks near Sutton Park, past Shenstone and go on to pass Lichfield.

Radio 1's Longest Ride with Greg James for Red Nose Day will be broadcast live across Radio 1, Morning Live and BBC Sounds with video diary highlights shared across Radio 1 and Comic Relief’s social channels, including YouTube. 

Comic Relief says: "From his start line in Weymouth on 13th March, Greg will need every ounce of physical and mental strength to keep pedalling as his journey takes him through Wales, the Midlands and the North of England, to his finish line in Edinburgh on Friday 20 March – Red Nose Day itself. 

"Greg won’t be facing the hills, bumps and byways of Britain totally alone. He’ll be joined by some surprise guests at points along the route to show the power of simply being connected."
