Suspected West Midlands brothel with '12 bedrooms and golden toilet' shut down by police
Police have forced the closure of a suspected 'brothel' as they take action against illegal sex work.
West Midlands Police officers from the Birmingham Serious Organised Crime and Exploitation Team (SOCEX) have forced the closure of 'Annabels', on Hockley Hill, Birmingham, following a months-long investigation.
The team had been investigating the unit as they suspected it was being used as a location for indoor sex work.

Following a lengthy investigation, including months of gathering evidence and intelligence, officers worked with landlords to shut the location down.
A search of the location revealed that the unit had been converted to house 12 'bedrooms', each with an en-suite and shower, and at least one room featuring a gold coloured toilet and sink.
PC Stuart Hurley, from the SOCEX team, said: "Our team works hard to investigate all reports of illegal sex work – and we’ve been determined to take action at this location.
“We close premises like this as we aim to protect people being exploited within them, and the associated harm that these venues can bring to the local community.
“We are committed to safeguarding vulnerable people, and I would urge anyone with concerns about this type of crime to please contact us."
The investigation into who was operating the premises continues.
