Police investigating after car crash leads to 'fighting with weapons' in West Midlands city

Two men have been taken to hospital after a car crash involving two vehicles in Coventry which led to "fighting with weapons".

Police are investigating the car crash that ocurred near the junction of Sewell Highway and Ansty Road at around 3:55am this morning (Friday 6 March). 

The collision led to "fighting with weapons" and police are continuing to investigate the incident to find out what happened and who was involved.

Two men were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Officers believe that one of the cars involved was a white Kia Sorrento which was damaged in the incident before it drove off. Police are currently trying to locate the car.

Coventry CC Roads posted on X at 7:23am this morning that the junction of Sewell Highway and Ansty Road had been closed off and drivers were being warned to avoid the area.

Coventry Police has confirmed that a scene is in place while their enquiries continue.

The force said: "We're investigating after two men have been injured following disorder in Coventry today (6 March).

"We received a report of a collision involving two cars and then fighting with weapons near the junction of Sewell Highway and Ansty Road at around 3.55am. Two men were taken to hospital with injuries which are thankfully not believed to be life-threatening. 

"A scene is currently in place while our enquiries continue and we remain keen to hear from anyone with information. We're particularly interested in any dashcam footage.
