'My family are so solidly Brummie': Peaky Blinders creator unveils new tram named after him ahead of Peaky Blinders world premiere

At Centenary Square in Birmingham, many gathered around to welcome a new tram, named after Peaky Blinders creator, Steven Knight.

The honour is in recognition of Steven’s work in promoting Birmingham and the West Midlands through the Peaky Blinders franchise alongside his support for the local creative industry through Digbeth Loc Studios.

Speaking to those in attendance at the new tram unveiling in Birmingham, Steven Knight shared his special connection to the city, having been brought up in Streetly.

"My family are so solidly Brummie, and they are all from Small Heath. Our estate was sort of right on the border and just over Barr Beacon that was the Black Country. People don't realise how different people speak and it was walking distance.

"I love the Black Country, I love the Black Country accent. I love the people and I'd love to do something that features those characters.
