Man and woman arrested as stolen car recovered in West Midlands

Police have arrested two people after recovering a car that was stolen from the West Midlands.

West Midlands Police made the arrests after they were alerted to a vehicle being taken from Castle Bromwich on Saturday morning. 

The vehicle was spotted by officers last night, and following a pursuit, the car was abandoned near Dudley Road, where the occupants made off.

However, with the assistance of one of the force's police dogs, officers managed to find the suspects hiding among the overgrowth.

An 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man have both been arrested on suspicion of theft. 

They currently remain in custody for questioning.

A force spokesperson said: "We've arrested two people after recovering a car which was stolen from the Solihull area. 

"We were alerted to a vehicle being taken from Castle Bromwich yesterday morning. 

"It was spotted by officers last night, and following a pursuit, the car was abandoned near Dudley Road, and the occupants made off.

"However, with the help of one of our police dogs, we managed to search through overgrowth and track two suspects. 

"An 18-year-old man and a woman, aged 20, have both been arrested on suspicion of theft. 

"They currently remain in custody for questioning."
