More than 500 campaigners have taken part in a march to defend a historic stretch of green land.

Dubbed the 'Burntwood 500', the group of campaigners, which represented generations of local families, marched along the boundaries of Fulfen Hamlet, Burntwood, in an effort to show the 'irreplaceable value' of the town's rural heritage.

The controversial scheme would see Bloor Homes build 250 homes on land off Church Road and Coulet Lane, with 43 per cent of those being classed as 'affordable' and of 'mixed social rent'
