West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner delivering statement over backlash force chief faces over Israeli fan ban at Aston Villa match

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster is to make a statement on the the fall out from the Aston Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv closed door match.

The force's chief constable is clinging to his job after losing the confidence of the Home Secretary following the move to ban the Israeli club fans from Villa Park.

Craig Guildford has so far resisted calls to resign after apologising for giving incorrect evidence about the controversy to MPs which included denying that AI had been used in a report that informed the decision.

On Friday afternoon commissioner Mr Foster will be delivering a statement outside force headquarters Lloyd House in Birmingham at 4pm today.

His office said: "It will focus on the on-going scrutiny surrounding the fall out from the Aston Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv game which took place in November."
