The acquisition is subject to formal approval by full council early this year - Dudley Council said in September it would by the clinic and library in a multi million pound deal to secure its future

The lease on the privately owned building will expire in March 2026 and negotiations to secure its future have now reached a conclusion 'in principle' the council has said.

Leader Patrick Harley said it was an “important milestone” in securing the long-term provision of library and health services in the village.

He said: “I am pleased to confirm that we have agreed to the terms of acquiring the Ladies Walk property.

“We will be seeking a formal council decision early this year.

“We are fully aware how important the facilities this building provides are to residents in Sedgley, and the strength of feeling around saving it.

“I see this move by the council as incredibly positive, and an important milestone towards securing the long-term provision of library and health services in Sedgley.

“We are unable to disclose any further details at this stage of the process due to commercial sensitivity, but look forward to sharing more details on this very soon.”
