Hednesford Town’s stellar form has been lighting up non-league football this season - but it appears the club are also sparking a glow in the community.
Some people nearby have even been convinced they have been seeing a spectacular celestial show - with the sky being turned a mysterious pinky-purple - and sparking a series of wild theories.
But the fact is that the glow has a far more down-to-earth explanation - and is more Northern Premier League than northern lights.
In reality, it turns out that the Pitmen’s lamps have turned out to be at the centre of the mystery that has been lighting up the night sky over Staffordshire in an eerie pinky-purple glow.
Dozens of people have been posting on social media reporting a strange violet glow in the area - but it has turned out to be LED lights used to keep the club's superb new pitch in tip-top condition at Keys Park.
The ambitious club have been shooting for the stars under new owners Craig and Amanda Gwilt and are currently flying high at the top of the Northern Prem, where they have brought in some star signings.
