School closures: Dozens of West Midlands schools forced to remain closed as amber snow warnings hit the UK

Schools across the West Midlands have been making the decision whether to open their doors today following the overnight snowfall. 

It comes as the West Midlands was included in a yellow warning for snow and ice yesterday afternoon, with commuters being warned of potentially dangerous road conditions.

The alert warned that 1cm to 3cm of snow would fall overnight on Sunday and early on Monday morning, with temperatures remaining low throughout the morning, leading to potentially hazardous conditions. 

Schools and education facilities across the West Midlands have also warned of closures due to the bad weather, with dozens across the region deciding to remain closed due to 'safety concerns' following the snowfall. 

A number of schools in Dudley and Stafford have already decided to remain closed today, with more facilities being added to the list as the day progresses.

Wollescote Primary School - Closed

Thorns Collegiate Academy - Closed

The Link Academy - Closed

Kates Kill Primary School - Closed

Alder Coppice Primary School - Closed

Caslon Primary - Closed

Cotwall End Primary School - Closed

Halesowen College - will be open from midday.

Redhill School - will be open from 11.10am.

Ashwood Primary School - closed on inset day, but open for teachers.

Beacon Hill Academy School - lessons will begin at 10am.
