'Transformational year' for Oldbury-based employee and workplace training provider
Leading employee and workplace training provider PLT Training has described 2025 as a “transformational year” - saying the Autumn Budget has brought “much-needed stability” for the road ahead.
The Black Country training provider, which offers health and safety courses, forklift and plant training, work equipment training and first aid courses, has recently opened a £1.25m ‘centre of excellence’ in Oldbury after five years of rapid growth.

Reflecting on a successful year for the business which has expanded after buying a facility in Pearsall Drive, operations director Katherine Lang said: “We have transformed an 82,250 sq ft warehouse into a dedicated training space that will support more than 10,000 learners in health and safety courses every year.
“The move has given us the opportunity to create six purpose-built zones for forklifts, advanced working at height, manual handling, first aid and a unique confined spaces course that includes working through a series of tunnels and fitting breathing apparatus.

“It marks a perfect early 20th birthday present us and gives us the platform to build on our 1,500-strong client list that includes Assa Abloy, Arvato SCM, AO Recycling, Williams F1 and Red Bull Racing.
“Whilst you’re never going to please everyone, I do feel that the government policy outlined in the Autumn budget brings some much-needed stability so that we can plan, invest and hire without wondering what the next few months will bring.

“That’s good news for PLT Training and good news for the Black Country.”
The business, founded in 2006 by Nicc Bennett, has taken on a couple of extra people as a result of the expansion - with plans for more to join the team of 17 instructors in the new year.
Courses offered range from COSHH Training/Awareness, First Aid and Fire Marshalling to forklift, plant and work equipment training, such as abrasive wheels and overhead cranes.
The company also delivers leadership and management courses, NEBOSH and IOSH accredited training and support to help employees with recognising mental health struggles and with menopause awareness.
