The bridge refurbishment is the latest in a year of improvements to rail infrastructure in the county.

A rare 21 day closure of a 50 mile stretch of the West Coast Mainline in August allowed £12.5 million improvements from Stone to Stoke-on-Trent.

Tracks were renewed, points, bridges and viaducts were also improved to prevent crumbling infrastructure causing cancellations and delays.
