Willenhall shooting: Man left fighting for life after being gunned down before Christmas Eve

A man has been left fighting for his life following a shooting in Willenhall.

A man in his 20s has been left in a serious condition following a shooting in Wordsworth Road, Willenhall, yesterday evening. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene at 7.28pm on Tuesday (December 23) following reports that a man had been shot. 

Two ambulances, a MERIT trauma doctor, two paramedic officers, and a critical care paramedic were dispatched.

On arrival, crews discovered a man who'd suffered life-threatening injuries. 

He was given advanced trauma care by ambulance staff at the scene before being rushed to hospital. 

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "Upon arrival, we found one patient, a man. He was assessed and had sustained life-threatening injuries. He received advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene before being conveyed to hospital for further treatment."

West Midlands Police said two men have been arrested following 'quick-time' enquiries in the area, with a 50-year-old and a 27-year-old remaining in custody.

A force spokesperson said: "Two men have been arrested after a man was found in Wordsworth Road, Willenhall, with a suspected gunshot wound last night.

"We were alerted by ambulance colleagues at around 7.30pm and attended the scene where the man in his 20s was being treated by paramedics.

"He was later taken to the hospital with injuries which are believed to be life-threatening.

"Following quick-time enquiries, two men aged 50 and 27 were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in custody today as investigations continue."

The force is currently carrying out door-to-door enquiries, alongside retrieving CCTV footage from the area, asking anyone with information to contact them directly via their 101 number.
