‘Patrols will continue in Dudley’: 100 drivers stopped by police in Stourbridge to check for drink and drugs with some being breathalysed
Officers from Stourbridge Neighbourhood Team and the Roads Policing Unit have teamed up this week as part of an operation targeting drink and drug drivers.
Heading over to Mill House Lane and the ring road in Stourbridge, on Tuesday morning (December 9), the West Midlands Police team stopped 100 drivers to make sure no one was behind the wheel while over the limit.
Speaking to motorists, officers reminded them not to get behind the wheel after drinking this festive season - no matter how short the journey may be.
Drivers were also reminded that alcohol can still be in the system the morning after.
The traffic team then headed out across Stourbridge on the lookout for dangerous or careless drivers.

A car was also seized and a ticket issued for a motorist driving with no insurance and no licence. Officers said he would now be sent a letter to attend court.
None of the drivers breathalysed were over the limit with all three recording negative results.
This operation forms part of Operation Limit – a national operation targeting drink and drug drivers over the festive period.
A spokesperson for WMP said: “We’re carrying out extra roadside checks and targeted patrols across the region, using breath tests, drug wipes, and intelligence-led stops to catch offenders and prosecute anyone found to be breaking the law.”
‘These patrols will continue in Dudley throughout the festive season’
Dudley Chief Inspector Adam Henderson, said: “Operations like this are so important over the festive period to ensure motorists are keeping themselves and other road users and pedestrians safe.
“It was great to hear that the public were happy to see my officers and the traffic officers conducting these patrols.
“We don’t want anyone’s Christmas or New Year ruined by a decision to get behind the wheel after drinking or taking drugs.
“You could not only ruin your own life but an innocent person’s as well which will have a lasting impact on their family and your own.
“These patrols will continue in Dudley throughout the festive season, and I would ask anyone who suspects someone of drink or drug driving to call us immediately and report it. Book a taxi, ask a friend to pick you up, or have a designated driver – there’s never an excuse for being over the limit.”
A WMP spokesperson added: “Drink and drug driving remains a policing priority. Together with our partners, we are doing everything possible to stop such reckless and selfish behaviour.
“Our officers are highly trained to spot drink or drug drivers, and we have the technology to test for it. If you’re over the limit, you will be arrested. No excuses.
“If you know someone who regularly drives under the influence of drink and drugs, report them by calling 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers. In an emergency or if someone is in danger call 999.”
