A Birmingham man has been jailed after West Midlands Police found £16,000 worth of Class A drugs hidden inside a printer in his house.

Hemant Patel was arrested in June this year after a warrant carried out by officers in Birmingham at an address in Woodstock Road in Moseley.

While searching the house, one of our drug-detecting dogs, PD Lucky, sniffed out a large quantity of drugs hidden inside a printer, as well as tucked away elsewhere in the same room.

Patel was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, eventually pleading guilty at Birmingham Crown Court on 8 December.

The 39-year-old was sentenced to 38 months in prison.

PC George Anstey from Birmingham Local Policing Area's Serious Organised Crime and Exploitation team (SOCEX) said: "Inside the house we found approximately £16,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin.

"The defendant has been given a custodial sentence, where he can hopefully reflect on his poor life choices.

"Behind most street drugs there is a trail of misery and exploitation, which ruins the lives of incredibly vulnerable people.

"Drug dealing will not be tolerated in our community and the SOCEX teams across the West Midlands will continue to take action against it wherever we find it."
