Man accused of stealing thousands of pounds from cashpoints in the Black Country

The trial of a man charged with fraudulently taking nearly £35,000 from cashpoints in Dudley borough over five months has been delayed until next year.

Gratian Sultan, 34, with unknown accomplices, allegedly began withdrawing cash illegally from the NCR ATM in Lye on July 17, 2023 and carried on until December 21, 2023.

Sultan, of Buckinghamshire, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Monday via video link from HMP Wormwood Scrubs.

He has pleaded not guilty to conspire with others unknown to steal from the cashpoint at Lye and elsewhere in the Black Country , cash to the value of approximately £34,970. 

All the cashpoints concerned belong to NCR Atleos, an American based company and one of the biggest providers of ATMs in the world with over 55,000 currently operating across the globe 

Phillip Beardwell, for the prosecution said they would need three months to study CCTV footage and prepare a case.

Judge Simon Ward said the delay was not ideal but it was important for all the evidence to be studied and prepared and that Sultan would be remanded in custody until the trial date, which has now been set for May 26 next year.
