Carl Walker, 50, of Monyhull Hall Road, was given 16 months in prison, suspended for two years, at Birmingham Crown Court today (28 November 2025).

Walker had earlier admitted possessing a firearm without a certificate, possessing ammunition without a certificate, and having a flick-knife. He entered the guilty pleas at the same court on 5 September.

Police searched Walker’s home on March 14,  2025 under a Firearms Act warrant. Inside, officers found a partly built 3D-printable semi-automatic 9mm firearm hidden in a wardrobe. They also discovered 9mm bullets and the tools and components needed to finish making the weapon.

More than 50 knives were seized, including hunting knives, a flick-knife and a samurai sword found under his mattress. Other knives were hidden in his bed.

Officers also recovered a crossbow with bolts, blowpipes with darts, and a manual showing how to make a home-made 9mm sub-machine gun.

Douglas Marshall from the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Carl Walker was found to have a worryingly large armoury of weapons, including a nearly completed 3D-printed firearm and compatible ammunition.

“The Crown Prosecution Service worked closely with West Midlands Police to build a robust case that left him no option but to plead guilty.

“We will continue to prosecute those who seek to produce and possess home-made firearms with the full force of the law."
