She tabled a question to Emma Hardy, parliamentary under-secretary of state at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs during a discussion.

Sonia Kumar asked the minister what support the Government would provide to help deliver the new vision for Dudley Canal & Caverns — a project designed to enhance visitor experiences, strengthen community engagement, and explore the long-term reopening of the Wren’s Nest Tunnel connection.

The Dudley Canal & Tunnel Trust has launched a new masterplan, “Connection through Place”, focused on modernising the Portal Visitor Centre, expanding learning and event spaces, upgrading exhibitions and café facilities, and developing new heritage-led regeneration links.

Ms Kumar said: “Dudley Canal & Caverns is one of our town’s greatest hidden treasures — a living reminder of our industrial story and a gateway to our World Heritage landscape.
