Teenager, 16, charged over knife possession and attempted burglary in Sandwell

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with possessing a knife and attempted burglary in Sandwell.

A 16-year-old teenager has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place, attempted burglary and possession of cannabis after being stopped in the Rowley Regis area of Sandwell

West Midlands Police were called over reports of a member of the public being threatened with a weapon, and attempts being made to access an address in Royal Oak Road, Rowley Regis, on Sunday, December 9.

Following enquiries in the region, officers detained a 16-year-old boy in connection with the incident.

Following the arrest, the boy was charged with possession of a knife in a public place, attempted aggravated burglary, and possession of cannabis.

He was remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court today.

A force spokesperson said: "We continually work with partners to warn young people of the dangers of carrying a knife.

"Everyone, including teachers, parents and carers, all have a part to play in reducing knife crime."
