A 19 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after armed police attend reports of a firearm in Birmingham city centre
A man, 19, is in custody after West Midlands Police officers were called to reports of someone being spotted with a firearm in Birmingham city centre.
Armed officers were quickly at the scene on Curzon Street, around 4.20pm yesterday (Sunday, November 9).
A 19-year-old was detained and officers seized the firearm, which was later established to be a BB gun.
The man was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences, and possession of a Class-A drug.
He remains in police custody.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We’re working round the clock to deal with all forms of gun crime, which has fallen by 15% in the last year.
