West Midlands Police have charged 19 people, aged between 14 and 25, with a range of offences after fireworks were launched towards pedestrians and police officers in Birmingham on November 5.

It comes after a Section 60 order was put into place on Bonfire Night, which remained in place until yesterday morning, which gave officers the powers to stop and search without reasonable grounds.

The extra powers led to multiple arrests around the city, with officers seizing both weapons and fireworks.

Detective Chief Inspector, Gareth Williams, said: "We have now charged 19 people with offences.

"Behaviour like this will not be tolerated, and those responsible for disorder will be dealt with accordingly."

The arrests were made in the Dale End area of the city, and also on Staniforth Street.

All have been bailed to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on November 20.

A police appeal into the disorder is still ongoing, with anyone with information asked to contact the force directly via their 101 number, quoting reference 4026 of 5 November.
