From failing GCSE mocks to supernatural ‘BookTok’ sensation - how Wolves fan is living the dream through new hobby
A Wolves fan is living his writing dreams on social media with the launch of a spooky new book - despite his low scores on GCSE exams.
William Lee, who boasts more than 1,900 followers on TikTok, launched his new book ‘Gone Before The Moon’ earlier this year - selling hundreds of copies via his live streams.
The novel, which is William’s debut and the first of a five-book series, follows the story of 16-year-old Duncan whose life collapses when his best friend Kade vanishes. As mysterious forces emerge, he uncovers hidden conspiracies, supernatural ties and inner strength, embarking on a perilous quest to bring Kade home.
But William Lee, who works for a manufacturing firm in his day job, admits he hasn’t always been a writer. The 25-year-old Wolves fan, from Worcester, claims he struggled in school - getting an F in one of his mock exams - and only discovered his passion for writing when looking for a new hobby in recent years.
Speaking to the Express & Star, William said: “I’d really gotten into reading the past couple of years… I thought, you know what, I could have a go at this myself.

“In school, I wasn’t too brilliant at English — I remember getting an F in one of the mock exams… but I studied really hard and ended up passing.
“But I haven’t always been a writer. I'd really gotten into reading the past couple years, and I thought I could have a go at this myself.
