'Coffee, cake and Castle Hill’ - starting on Tuesday November 4 - will run at the Castle Hill attraction two mornings a week throughout the winter months.

The event, funded with cash from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund which aims to help level up opportunity, prosperity and overcome geographical inequalities and boost people's pride in the places they love, will offer residents a chance to meet and talk with others in a warm and welcoming space and learn more about the natural and man-made history of the Dudley area.

The coffee mornings will run from 10.30am to12.30pm on a Tuesday and Thursday in the zoo’s Tecton Room, off the Safari Shop, and will involve a variety of talks and presentations from zoo staff and external partners, plus complimentary coffee, tea, biscuits and cake.

Jack Williams, conservation and development co-ordinator at Dudley Zoo and Castle, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to have secured funding for these coffee mornings from the UK government, through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and to be partnering with Dudley Council as we look to engage the wider community with the natural world around us.

“We invite anyone who would like to enjoy coffee, cake and a chat to come along and have some fun. We hope these coffee mornings will bring people together and create lasting friendships while also enabling us to celebrate and discuss the rich history of Castle Hill and Dudley town with local residents.”

The coffee mornings are free but places need to be pre-booked by calling 01384 215313 or via the zoo’s website.
