CCTV caught the culprits piling high the rubbish in Wheelhouse Lane in April 2024 leading to Cannock Chase District Council prosecuting Sean McGuigan.

McGuigan, 36, initially claimed he had lent his van to a friend who dumped the rubbish without his knowledge.

However, after a trial at Cannock Magistrates Court McGuigan, of Cannock Road, was found guilty and ordered to pay over £2,000 in legal and clean up costs.

He was found guilty of fly-tipping household waste, including a washing machine, and being in control of a vehicle involved in illegally dumping waste in April 2024.

CCTV footage captured a distinctive white and yellow sign-written tipper truck dumping waste at the location. McGuigan claimed he had loaned what he described as “his pride and joy” to another person.

However, the court rejected this defence and found him guilty.

Following the trial at Cannock Magistrates’ Court, McGuigan was ordered to pay a total of £2,020, which included £1,000 compensation to cover the clean-up costs.
