Nightclub facing licence review after Stafford town centre street stabbing
A nightclub is facing a review of its premises licence in the wake of a street stabbing in Stafford as the operators insist the incident happened after its closing time.
An unnamed man, aged in his 20s, was stabbed in the neck during an incident in Bridge Street in Stafford centre at about 4am on September 27 resulting in the emergency services being called to the street and a police appeal for witnesses.
Bosses at nearby Casa nightclub has taken to social media to say the incident happened on adjacent land after it had closed its doors and that the safety of its customers was top priority.
Meanwhile, Stafford Borough Council has issued a public notice relating to a review of the club's premises licence. The notice stated: " Stafford Borough Council has on October 10, 2025 received n application for the review of the premises licence in respect of the premises known as Casa. The grounds for the review application relate to the licensing objectives."

The council confirmed: "A valid review application has been received. The application has been requested on the grounds of the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, and the protection of children from harm.”
Casa posted on Facebook: "We are aware of reports concerning an incident on Bridge Street, Stafford, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Staffordshire Police have confirmed to us that the incident occurred at around 4.10am on land adjacent to our venue, after Casa had already closed.
"To be clear this did not take place inside or immediately outside our premises. We are relieved to hear that the individual involved is safe. At the request of the police we have supported their investigation by providing CCTV footage of the area.
"Police have also confirmed that this was an isolated incident, not involving a knife, but glass. In over 18 years of operating and welcoming more than two million guests, the safety of our customers and staff has always been and remains our top priority."

Stafford Borough Police stated: "We’re appealing for witnesses following a stabbing outside a nightclub in Stafford. Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service told us that they were responding to the incident on Bridge Street at about 4.10am on September 27.
"A man, in his 20s, suffered a stab wound to his neck and was taken to hospital.Thankfully his injuries were not considered life threatening or life changing and he has since been discharged. We went to the scene and put a cordon in place while initial inquiries were carried out to understand more. It is believed that a potential suspect left the scene before paramedics arrived.
"We’re also aware of speculation linking this incident to a fire at a building on Market Square in the early hours of the same day. This isn’t true and these incidents are not related.We’re keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or those with any information that can help with our investigation."
