David and military minded friends gearing up for bigger than ever display in Stourbridge
Stourbridge is gearing up for its fourth Military Vehicle Parade next month when funds will once again be raised for the annual British Legion Poppy appeal.
Military enthusiast and Stourbridge shuttle driver David Spruce started the parade four years ago after displaying his own vehicles in the town for many years on Remembrance weekend.

He now drives them through the town centre with fellow owners bringing their own military vehicles.
This year the date is Saturday November 8 with the parade led by the Shirley Pipe Band starting at 11am from Upper High Street and moving to Market Street and Foster Street before finishing at the Bonded Warehouse on Canal Street for a public display
Last year a rare 1940s tank was one of the highlights of the parade and over 40 tanks, trucks and jeeps from all over the Midlands attended with many people dressed in authentic costume including a Winston Churchill lookalike. This year organisers are hoping it will be bigger than ever
As part of the event, a shop front decoration contest is taking place, with cash prizes awarded to the most original and heartfelt tributes to veterans.
David's employers Pre Metro - operators of the Stourbridge Shuttle - are sponsoring the competition alongside Pegasus Grab Hire.
Each business is encouraged to create a display that honours military heritage and community spirit whilst raising awareness for the Poppy Appeal.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners, with all winnings donated to the charity of the business’s choice.
The contest will be judged by a panel including David, Pre Metro Director Steve Jasper, and former town MP Suzanne Webb OBE.
Businesses who wish to take part are asked to contact David at ds@stourbridgemvp.co.uk or visit https://stourbridgemvp.co.uk/
