Ten not out! Annual beer festival in Codsall pulls in the crowds - and the pints
It was cheers for the beers and the music at Codsall Village Hall as visitors from far and wide celebrated the tenth anniversary of its been festival.
Started by Andy Evans who organises the festival with his wife Kelly and a team of helpers, the event has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2015.

This year there were 50 beers, ciders and perries on display and Friday night and Saturday afternoon proved very popular, with three rooms and a marquee housing the drinks and the stage where bands performed classic hits from the 60s. 70s and 80s.

Andy took time out to talk to the Express & Star and said all the hard work and preparations had once again proved worthwhile.

He said: "There is a lot of preparation that people perhaps don't see leading up to the 6pm start on the Friday including laying the floor, setting up the marquee and installing the beer stations of which we have 50 this year.

"But from the acorn of an idea in 2015 it has gone from strength to strength and is recognised as a success not just by people in Codsall and the surrounding area but the Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA), of which many members pass through our doors and volunteer as staff.

"We have raised money for charity as well and hopefully will do this year - I always said I wanted the event to be self sustaining and it has been."

One of the visitors, Theresa Dorrance, lives 'just across the road' from the village hall and had been to the event last night (Friday) and today with a group of friends, who have been going since the first event.

She said: "We were on the beer last night and are trying the ciders today, it is a great atmosphere, very lively into the afternoon and evening and shows you don't always have to go far to enjoy yourself."
Chris Lowe said: "The music is great and so is the beer, it is great to have an event like this people can enjoy."
Wayne Colley who volunteers at the festival behind the pumps said: "It is a really enjoyable event and attracts a lot of people who aren't necessarily big beer drinkers but enjoy the atmosphere and it is nice to talk to new people every year and of course the regulars."
The festival runs until 11pm tonight (Saturday) with live music and children's entertainment until 7pm
