Man charged with three vehicle theft and attempted burglary offences after Staffordshire incident

A man has been charged with vehicle theft and attempted burglary offences following separate incidents in Lichfield and Tamworth

Ashley West, aged 31, of Grendon, Warwickshire, has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and two counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal.

A one-day accelerated misconduct hearing by Staffordshire Police found that the officer had breached the standards of professional behaviour.

It comes after reports of two attempted burglaries in Tamworth and Whittington on August 25 and the theft of a BMW i4 in Tamworth on August 16.

West appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre yesterday (Tuesday)and has been remanded ahead of his next appearance at Stafford Crown Court on 31 October.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "By working proactively to tackle burglary in Staffordshire, we were able to reduce the number of associated crimes by 27 per cent when compared to the year before (August 2024 to August 2025).
