One arrested after reports of shop theft in Walsall

A man has been arrested after officers responded to a shop theft in Walsall.

A suspected shop thief has been arrested after West Midlands Police officers responded to reports of a theft from a shop in the St Matthew's region of Walsall on Sunday night. 

The arrest comes after officers utilised CCTV footage to help track down the suspected offender, where he was arrested on suspicion of theft, burglary, and recall to prison.

The man will now be interviewed by the force's investigations team and sent back to prison. 

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Officers responded to reports of a shop theft. The offender was quickly located with the help of CCTV and was arrested on suspicion of theft, burglary, and recall to prison. 

"He will now be interviewed by investigation colleagues and sent back to prison."
