'Everyone had a fabulous time - despite the confusion': Fun City owners speak of success following flagship Dudley entertainment complex opening
The co-owner of Dudley's new Fun City has spoken of the success of the entertainment venue following its opening day.
Hundreds of people flocked to Dudley town centre for the opening day of the new flagship £4m Fun City entertainment complex in the former Grade II listed museum and art gallery on St James Road.
The doors opened on the new venue with a grand affair, and it was marked with the 'Dudley Town Day' event, with football legends Steve Bull, from Wolves fame, and Albion striker Bob Taylor, also turning up.

Overall, the day saw more than 4,000 people attend, with queues seeing more than 450 people waiting to get entry to the new entertainment venue.
Hayley Andrews co-owns the venue with her husband Paul, she said the day was 'better than they expected'.

She said: "It was fabulous, it was such an amazing day. Overall, the Town Fun Day saw over 4,000 attendees. We had more than 450 people queuing to get into Fun City, way beyond what we were expecting.
"Everyone had an amazing time. And in such a great building, too. I never imagined that we would use this for Fun City. But it was a pleasure to restore it and keep all of its original features."

However, confusion was raised over the 'golden ticket' policy for entry to Fun City on its opening day, with Hayley saying that she 'understands' that some were left disappointed over the confusion.
She said: "A lot of people didn't get a turn on some of the games because of how busy it was, but we had some amazing reviews over the day.

"We understand that there was some disappointment over the 'golden ticket' entry policy for the first day; however, we are reaching out to those who we know didn't give free entry tickets due to the misunderstanding."
Despite the confusion, Hayey said that reviews for the event were 'amazing', and that they are excited to 'go to the drawing board' to look for chances to improve.

Hayley said: "The amount of bookings that we have had already is amazing. We are really over the moon with how it has turned out.
"Fun City is a franchise, this is the first of many, but we wanted to do it here in Dudley, in our home town."
