The Old Crown in Digbeth, Birmingham, is about to celebrate its 657th birthday - and it’s offering customers the chance to win £657
Birmingham’s oldest pub - The Old Crown - is celebrating its 657th birthday with a huge free party - and you could win £657.
The iconic venue which dates back to 1368 is the city’s oldest non-secular building. It has fought off attacks during the First Civil War from Prince Rupert’s forces - and it’s the only structure still standing after the Battle of Birmingham at Camp Hill in 1643.
Additionally, the pub has been host to royalty, with Queen Elizabeth I staying there on her way home from Kenilworth Castle in 1575.
The pub prides itself on celebrating its heritage, with many parts of the original building, including its black & white timber frame, still standing to this day.
And to celebrate its latest landmark birthday it’s hosting a huge free party which it promises will be full of fun, chaos and laughs.

Guests include award-winning Birmingham artist Tat Vision, DJ Paul Thomas, Night Shift are performing live, there will be street food, goody bags from local businesses - and a chance to win a cheque for £657.
A spokesperson for The Old Crown said: “Any guests at the event will have the chance to win £657 - simply purchase a free ticket online or arrive between 4-8pm and receive a unique wristband - what would you spend the money on?”
The Old Crown has got two beer gardens and hundreds of events all year round, including #DigbethStPats celebrations and their annual Summer Programme.

This year, the pub was crowned as one of the finalists in The Great British Pub Awards for ‘’Best Pub Garden’’, the winner will be announced just days before this year's birthday celebrations.
