Man charged with dangerous driving in Brierley Hill and knife offences after running from officers

A driver has been charged with a list of offences after crashing into another car in an attempt to escape officers in Brierley Hill.

West Midlands Police has charged a man with dangerous driving, possession of two bladed articles, and possession with intent to supply after he attempted to run from officers in the Brierley Hill area yesterday.

Brierley Hill Police spotted the vehicle, a grey Volkswagen Golf, during a routine patrol yesterday afternoon.

After refusing to stop for police, the driver collided with another car before decamping and attempting to run from officers.

After a short chase, officers finally caught up to the man, where they found a large amount of Class A drugs, a knife and a machete.

He was arrested and later charged with dangerous driving, possession of two-bladed articles, possession with intent to supply drugs and driving without a licence.

He was remanded into custody.

A force spokesperson said: "On patrol, this car failed to stop for us. The driver collided with a car & then ran. We detained him following a foot chase; he was in possession of a large amount of suspected class A drugs, a knife and a machete. We arrested him on suspicion of dangerous driving.

"The driver of this car has now been charged with dangerous driving, possession of 2 bladed articles, possession with intent to supply drugs and driving without a licence or insurance. He has been remanded into custody."
