Video shows moment that crowds duck for cover as shots fired at packed Birmingham nightclub
A video has shown the moment that shots were fired at a packed Birmingham nightclub this weekend.
Video footage circulating online and watched by the Express & Star has revealed the moment that a gunman opened fire in a crowded Birmingham nightclub in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The video, which has been shared thousands of times on social media, shows the packed dancefloor in the Mango Club, on Bristol Street, only seconds before a number of shots were fired.
Crowds could be seen dancing to lively music before the first shot rang out, followed by dozens of screams. Moments later, a second shot was fired, with scores of terrified people being seen to duck for cover.
A man was left fighting for his life in hospital following the shooting, which took place at around 3am on Saturday morning.
Two other men and one woman were also treated for injuries thought to be less serious, with a total of four people being shot.
A total of four people have so far been arrested in connection with the West Midlands Police investigation into the shooting, with a 32-year-old man being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at around 9.30am on Saturday morning.
Three women in their 20s and 30s were also arrested earlier in the day from a vehicle on the M6 on suspicion of violent disorder.
Following the shooting, West Midlands Police Assistant Chief Inspector Michael Clarke made an urgent appeal for information, asking anyone with information to contact them directly.
He said: "This happened in a busy nightclub, on one of the main roads out of Birmingham city centre, so it’s vital that we hear from anybody who saw what happened or who may have captured it on dashcam as they went past.
“If you were in the club at the time and saw what happened, or recorded any footage from inside the venue, we need to hear from you urgently.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the force via their 101 number, or alternatively on the Live Chat service on their website, quoting reference 561 of 20 September.
West Midlands Police have been contacted for more information.
