Hundreds flock to town centre as Dudley opens £4m 'Fun City' entertainment complex - including football legends Steve Bull and Bob Talyor

Wolves legend Steve Bull and Albion striker Bob Taylor were spotted at the grand opening of Dudley's 'Fun City'.

The doors of Dudley's new £4 million entertainment complex, Fun City, opened its doors on Saturday, with hundreds rushing to the town to try out the new flagship venue. 

The entertainment facility sits in the Grade II listed museum and art gallery in St James Road, which was formerly the town's museum and art gallery.

The grand-opening event was marked with a 'Dudley Town Day', and saw Wolverhampton Wanderers legend Steve Bull and former West Bromwich Albion striker Bob Taylor turn up for a meet and greet with the eager visitors. 

The new venue includes plenty of games to get involved with, including laser tag, pool tables, darts, karaoke and even virtual reality games studios.

Queues for the opening event extended throughout the town, with families, friends, and eager gamers waiting to catch a glimpse of the new hub. 

Plans for Fun City were first revealed in 2023, with the £4m project transforming two landmark town centre buildings, including the museum, which has sat dormant since 2016.

The entertainment complex is spread over three floors, and as well as game rooms, includes a bar and restaurant area, a sports cage for baseball, cricket and lacrosse, an arcade area and a football simulator.

The top floor of the venue also includes a dedicated 'Duncan Edwards' room, where visitors can channel their inner football legend in a penalty shoot-out.

The original facade of the building remains largely unchanged, with the interior keeping the original tiled floors and grand staircases, and also a myriad of photos and murals from around Dudley, and artwork created by local artists.

The event was also attended by BBC sports presenter and football freestyle champion, Liv Cooke, who cut the ribbon, marking the official opening of the new entertainment complex.
