A man suspected of raping a woman in Oldbury has been bailed as police continue their investigations
West Midlands Police officers are continuing to appeal for the public’s help following the rape of a women in Oldbury last week.
In the latest update from the force, officers said that the man arrested in connection with the offence has been bailed bailed.
A spokesperson for WMP said: “The investigation is progressing into the racially aggravated attack on 9 September in the Tame Road area of Oldbury just before 8.30am. We continue to support the woman and we have kept her updated on this latest development.”
The man, in his 30s, was arrested on Sunday evening (September 14) on suspicion of rape. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Police are again appealing to anyone in the area who may have seen two white men. One had a shaved head, was of heavy build, and was reported to be wearing a dark coloured sweatshirt and had gloves on.
The second man was reportedly wearing a grey top with a silver zip.
The latest update follows a vigil held in Oldbury last night (Tuesday, September 16) attended by dozens of wellwishers showing support for the victim, with hundreds also signing a petition calling for CCTV to be installed.
'We absolutely understand the concer of local people'
WMP said that hundreds of hours of CCTV are being examined and extensive forensic enquiries continue as part of its investigation.
Chief Superintendent Kim Madill, police commander at Sandwell, said: “We are working closely with key partners and we absolutely understand the concern of local people.
“We need the public’s help to bring us information on who has carried out this horrendous attack. I can reassure you that we are doing everything possible to bring those responsible to justice on this young woman’s behalf.”
