West Midlands Police officers have been on the scene in Wolverhampton city centre on Thursday night for a dedicated operation to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Officers patrolled around key anti-social behaviour hotspots in the city, such as the bus station, Queen Street, Dudley Street and Queen Square, as well as St Peter's Gardens.

The operation was also joined by the local neighbourhood officers, the Guardian Taskforce, and PC Veltman with police dog, Stan.

A total of 12 people were stopped across the city centre, with four of those being found to be in possession of drugs.

The four were later referred to the support charity, Cranstoun, to receive drug advice.

PC McKinnon said: " This operation was about tackling issues that matter most to our communities, anti-social behaviour and drugs.

"It was a great opportunity to provide reassurance, act where offences were identified and engage with local people.

“We’ll continue to carry out targeted operations across Wolverhampton, making sure the city centre is a safe place for everyone to visit."

The action also gave members of the public the chance to speak with officers about their concerns and the work being carried out in the city centre, with PD Stan receiving plenty of fuss from members of the community.
